Daniel about to cross the Severn Bridge  Ciaran made it across the Severn bridge and back to English territory

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July 20:30: Mike Dreelan and the steam team make it to Lands End In a total of 111hrs with only one crew!  The engine is tired but still in one piece.  The team are tired but still in one piece.  WELL DONE everyone on a successful trip - an impressive effort by everyone involved.  Can't wait to add the photos to the site and let everyone see how it all happened!! Mike and Kyle very pleased to have reached the finish line!

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July 17.00: Ciaran has had a rest and is ready to get back on the road.  Support this week has come from Grant Reid and his well equipped moter home which has been tracking Ciaran down the route.  Grant's kept Ciaran going with water, food and brilliant support and can be seen here warming up the bike before the next leg starts!

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July 16.35: It’s been an action-packed day - 2 police cars, 3 fire engines and 4 fires, things are without doubt heating up and the engine team are going for it, full steam ahead. - There has been talk of downsizing to a model train set after this trek!

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July, 15.00:  Sparks flying from the engine have resulted in several fires caused by it being pulled so hard. Everyone is ok and they’re back on the road again, currently passing by Saint Columb.

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July, 14.36: Ciaran has made it to Hereford (photo below).  His right leg is still playing up - but it's covered in deep heat and strapped up.  They are heading for Bristol and hope to get south of there by tonight.

Ciaran gets to Wales!!

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July 10.00: Mike and his team got back on the road at 7am this morning after a big breakfast but not alot of sleep. They are currently 23 miles from Bodmin, then it’s another 78 miles to finishing line. Stevie Tawse says: “I have never seen so many nice pubs, but been unable to get into one of them for a pint”! - They’ll need one after this trek.

Day 5 Wednesday 16th July, 09.30: Ciaran is ready to set-off for another day.  He got to just North of Shrewsbury last night and had a well earn rest in a local hotel.  He had a long soak in the bath to loosen up his right leg which had seized completely at the end of Day 4.  He had to pedal the final 20 miles yesterday using only his left leg - and was in pain for every bump.  Still determind to carry on and make it to Lands End within these final three days.  Beginning to think it wasn't the best idea they've ever had and is now open to offers for one "Trek Road Bike" - available from Sunday!!  Also hoping that Mike isn't going to hold him to taking the Steam Engine back to Aberdeen - since it looks like Mike is going to beat him to the finish line!

Day 5 - 11.00 - On the road again!!

Mike and Ciaran make it onto North Tonight with a segment on the End to End trek.  Great coverage for the expedition and lets hope it brings in more donations.

Day 4 Tuesday 15th July 16.00: Tuesday was testing for Mike’s team who worked late on through the night, only pulling over into a lay-by for a couple of hours sleep. Leaving them 23 miles from Bodmin.

Day 4 Tuesday 15th July, 10.30: Ciaran joined by Daniel Dreelan to start day 4 from Shap, one of the highest altitude points on the route.  Daniel is only 14 and has been joining Ciaran for parts of the route each day to give him support - great to have a cycling buddy.  At this point he's covered 150 miles.  Ciaran has done just over 400!

Day 3 Monday 14th July, 19:25: Ciaran: Picture whilst pedalling 19.25 just south of penrith on the A6 climbing towards Shap !!!

Day 3 Monday 14th July: Mike set off in to the drizzle around 5am on Monday morning. The guys headed down through Carlisle, Penrith, on to the A6 via the summit and on to Kendal, where they arrived around 12.30pm just in time for lunch. They also made a stop around 5pm at Bamber Bridge to meet a group of local steam engine enthusiasts. The team then steamed ahead until 10.30pm and pulled up in Whitchurch for some well earned sleep after a 175 mile journey.

Day 3 Monday 14th July, 14:10: Ciaran: Just stopped before leaving Scotland at Springfield other side of M6 from gretna green for first break and lunch, 68.5 miles done today so far. Legs tired and aching, muscles not really getting a chance to recover. Plan for tonight is to get to Penrith. Will have an hours sleep after lunch and then head on again.

Day 2 Sunday 13th July: Ciaran got up at 6am and although struggling to eat managed to have some breakfast and headed off at 7.30am in the direction of Perth.  Around 25 miles before he got to Perth - he became unwell as the efforts of Day 1 were taking their toll.  He got back on the bike though and managed to get to Perth before bunking down for a few hours kip.  At 3pm he left Perth and managed to get to Larkhall through Bridge of Allan.  Someone at a filling station put Diesel into the water tank of the supporting motor home so they had to drain the tank before getting to bed around mid-night.

Day 2 Sunday 13th July 09.00: The engine was warmed up and ready to go for 6am on a beautiful Sunday morning. They arrived in Perth around 7.30am, then through Bridge of Allan making their first stop of the day in Stirling for breakfast! Mike’s team went down the old 74 road and stopped at 10.30pm in Gretna Green for the night after covering 184 miles.

Day 1 Saturday 12th July: Ciaran left John O'Groats at 5am in pouring rain (which continued till 9am).  He cycled for 71 miles then had a break for an hour.  He continued for another 50 miles to Inverness, getting there around 3pm and had an hours sleep.  They decided to push on and head for Inverness.  Ciaran managed to continue on till Newtonmore and was wrecked after cycling a total of 164 miles.

Day 1 Saturday 12th July: Mike set off at 5am from John O’Groats in what he described as torrential rain and bad winds. They stopped for a well deserved cup of tea in Berriedale. Mike and his team have to make stops every 25 miles to refuel with water and coal. They reached Inverness at around 3pm, and then headed down the A9 to Aviemore, making a final stop at 11.30pm to spend the night in Killiecrankie. Covering a total of 200 miles in day 1 - great start!

Day 0 - Friday 11th July:  Mike and Ciaran and their supporters left Aberdeen around 10.30am for their journey to John O'Groats.  Neither had been the road before and therefore weren't sure what they were in for.  They eventually arrived at their destination and starting point about 6.00pm - just in time for their interview with STV - look out for them on North Today over the weekend and North Tonight on Monday.
