UHDF operation

Client - CNR, Location - Ninian North platform, North Sea, UK

Overview

During a routine well service maintenance operation, the WRDHSV on N 42 failed an integrity test. The intervention plan was to recover the 4.562” RQ lock complete with DHSV lower assembly. During the setting and testing of the valve it was proven that the valve was leaking and needed to be pulled. Various RIH’s were carried out to recover the assembly but the fish neck of the lock was starting to fail. Client owned internal spears were run and failed.

Outcome

The standard internal spear grapple for the GS style fish neck was RIH and pulled free after a few jars. WRDHSV was recovered using a slightly larger internal spear grapple and lock. The client was satisfied and the well was back into production, with no incidents or accidents occurring during the intervention.
