Aker Qserv receives prestigious safety award

Aker Qserv receives prestigious safety awardAker Qserv, the specialist well, process and pipeline Service Company has achieved a 5 star grading for the second time following an audit from the British Safety Council.

Following a comprehensive evaluation, organisations are given star ratings – from one to five – to indicate the effectiveness of their safety programmes. Action plans are provided which aim to help companies reduce their insurance premiums and increase repeat business from customers.

The health and safety management system audit scores a company in 59 elements across five categories, namely, Safety Organisation, Management Control Systems, Fire Control Systems, Measurement and Control Systems and Workplace Implementation. Aker Qserv achieved a score of 94.8%, thus gaining the coveted 5 star grading. The audit can help organisations reduce accidents and improve productivity by identifying their health and safety strengths and weaknesses.

This achievement has secured Aker Qserv’s invitation to apply for the ‘Sword of Honour’ in August.

Alistair Cameron Aker Qserv HSEQ Manager said: “We’re delighted to win such a prestigious accolade and it’s an award for all our hard work.

“As a company we’re fully committed to reaching the highest standards in health and safety and will continue to adopt a target zero policy.”

Aker Qserv managing director, Tommy Dreelan said: “Achieving the five star rating has cemented our position as industry leaders in health and safety.

“We maintain and operate a stringent integrated HSEQ management system and we will continue to build and improve on our practices.”

Nina Wrightson OBE, Chairman of the British Safety Council, says: “A positive company image through first-class health and safety is vital. It not only makes excellent business sense to have the safest workplace possible, but it also boosts the morale of employees.

“I hope other companies will take the lead from Aker Qserv and forge the way towards a safer future with a Five Star award.”
