Aker Solutions ‘Wear it Pink’ to show support for cancer charity

STAFF at Aker Solutions took part in the Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear it Pink day in support of the thousands of people affected by breast cancer in the UK.

Workers embraced the message to wear as much pink as possible to raise money for the charity. Pink cakes were sold throughout the day and a quiz was held to increase the funds. The Aker Solutions’ staff raised a total of one hundred pounds which the company doubled to £200.00.

Breast Cancer Campaign’s mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

Last year thousands of people across the country wore pink to fund breast cancer research and improve survival rates for the one in eight women who experience breast cancer during their lifetime. In Scotland, around 4000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year.

Cath Ferrier of Aker Solutions said: “This is the fourth year we have continued our support for the cause. We try to encourage as many people as possible to take part and we are constantly thinking of new and exciting ways to raise valuable funds for breast cancer research.

“We all know people who have lost friends and family members to the disease. Breast cancer doesn’t just affect women, it can impact the lives of all family members. Support for Breast Cancer Campaign will help to fund research to improve treatments, diagnosis and hopefully find a cure.”
