Raffle raises over £1000 for medical research charity

ENTERPRISING staff put their money to good use last month to help raise over £1,100 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Colleagues parted with their cash to take part in a raffle to win a whole host of prizes including, a golf trip, a 5 star weekend away and a luxury hamper. The raffle took place on 31st October at Aker Qserv in Portlethen and was the latest event in a long standing partnership with the medical research charity.

The raffle was drawn by Alistair Brookes, Development Manager for JDRF Scotland and Garry Michie, Managing Director of Aker Qserv.

The partnership, which began in 2010, has already seen Aker Qserv undertake a variety of fundraising activities in support of JDRF’s search for the cure to type 1 diabetes. These include everything from bake sales and silent auctions to golf tournaments at Carnoustie.

To date, the company has raised over £5750 to help fund more vital research into finding the cure for type 1 diabetes.

Last month, staff took their fight to find the cure to a higher level – by jumping 10,000ft from a plane. The brave group took part in an adrenaline-filled sponsored skydive at Errol Airfield, Perthshire to raise over £1000.

Forthcoming events include a sponsored trek across the West Highland Way and a design competition with Aker Qserv’s partnership schools in Portlethen.
