Aker Solutions Commended for sponsorship of Mackie Mini’s Annual Rugby Tournament

November 2011 - Aker Solutions has been thanked for its support of the Mackie Mini’s annual rugby tournament by the president of Mackie FP RFC.
Garry Michie, managing director at Aker Solutions was presented with an engraved glass plaque by Neil Foster, president of the Mackie FP RFC as appreciation for the company’s support of the largest mini rugby tournament in the north east of Scotland.
The 10th annual rugby tournament took place in May this year and brought together over 750 of the youngest sporting talent from throughout the east of Scotland, all eager to prove they had what it takes to be the next Scottish rugby star.
The event was also attended by John Barclay of the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland International who offered hints and tips to the players.
Aker Solutions provided the vital funding towards the 2011 tournament including the printing of event programmes to be sold on the day.

Neil Foster, president of the Mackie FP RFC, said: “The Mini tournament gives young boys and girls the chance to showcase their skills playing against their local rivals and is a great way to encourage children from a young age to be active and demonstrate fair game and sportsmanship. The plaque is a small gesture to show our appreciation for the generous support from Aker Solutions.
Garry Michie, managing director at Aker Solutions, added: “We were surprised and very pleased to have received a token of appreciation for our support. I’m sure the tournament will continue its success and unearth some real future rugby stars.”
