Aker Solutions explores the future of well intervention
AKER Solutions will lead the discussions as well intervention comes under the spotlight at an oil and gas industry event in Aberdeen this week.
Over 70 industry leaders and post-graduate engineering students will gather at the Douglas Hotel, on Wednesday, January 25th to hear Jim Wright, business development general manager of Aker Solutions’ subsidiary Aker Qserv, deliver the keynote address at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) monthly dinner.
During the talk, Mr Wright will discuss the importance of well intervention, the range of services and applications, and outline future developments and opportunities within the industry.
“The demand for hydrocarbons will substantially increase over several coming decades due to population increase and expectation of rising living standards in developing countries. Innovative well intervention products and services will provide an important means to maximise the performance of wells through sustaining and improving production and recovery rates,” Said Mr Wright.
A Mechanical and Offshore Engineering Honours graduate of Robert Gordon University, Mr Wright joined Aker Solutions in 2004 as an operations engineer, providing technical support for the company’s coiled tubing and pumping clients. He moved into moved into global business development in 2007, supporting the company as it continues to expand into new technologies, markets and global oil and gas regions.
Mr Wright went on to say, “I wish to provide an overview of current well intervention techniques, the part they play in the lifecycle of a well, the technology advances in the sector to date and what technology is required for the future to support hydrocarbon supply.”
